Enjoy your broadband with a side serving of free laptop
In the past Internet Service Providers that wanted to attract more customers often gave away freebies and special deals, such as free upgrades on broadband speeds or some free television channels for a limited period for those on bundle packages. However, it looks as though the competition is getting even tougher now, as a couple of broadband providers have upped the stakes when it comes to offering freebies in order to attract custom.
UK customers that don’t mind tying themselves in to a two year deal with one broadband service provider can now bag themselves a brand new laptop computer. Although the laptops are not top of the range, they are brand new, from well known manufacturers, and are suitable for novice users and for those that want a more basic model without too many bells and whistles. Both Orange, and more recently, AOL are offering free laptops to consumers that sign up to a two year broadband contract with them.
Orange is offering the free laptop in conjunction with PC World, and consumers will need to sign up to a two year deal at £14.99 per month, which for the first three months is half price. AOL has recently followed suit by teaming up with the Carphone Warehouse in order to offer new customers a free laptop if they sign up to a two year deal priced at £19.99 per month for broadband.
The laptop that is available through Orange is reportedly worth £300, and the one that is offered by AOL is worth £500. However, in comparison the monthly charges for broadband are lower with Orange than they are with AOL. However, experts are warning consumers to ensure that they are happy to be tied into a two year deal before they get carried away with the offer of the free laptop.
