User satisfaction with mobile broadband may only improve with 4G
Whilst 3G networks have provided many consumers with the flexibility of being able to get online whilst on the move recent research has shown that compared to fixed line services user satisfaction is still very low, which is something that may only be sorted out when 4G networks are rolled out.
Over the last couple of years an increasing number of people have started using mobile broadband services via the 3G networks that have been put in place by mobile network providers. This has enabled consumers to enjoy total freedom, convenience, and flexibility when it comes to their broadband use, and for business users in particular these services have proven invaluable.
However, whilst many people are benefitting from being able to use mobile broadband services a recent survey has shown that customer satisfaction levels with regards to mobile broadband services is not as high as with fixed line broadband, and this is because of a number of issues. It is thought, however, that these problems could be ironed out once 4G services are brought in by network providers.
Whilst 3G networks used to serve us adequately the rising number of people using mobile broadband services and smart phones has put strain on the networks, and this makes the networks slower, less effective, and less reliable, which in turn makes it difficult for those trying to use the service. With 4G networks higher speeds, greater network capacity, and greater coverage will help to improve these services, putting them on par with fixed line broadband.
One industry official said: “At a time when mobile broadband is set to grow at a scorching pace, these findings are a wake up call for the industry. Indeed, with the increased availability and use of smart devices, operators cannot afford to lose any opportunity to make the experience on their networks comparable to that of their fixed-line counterparts.”
