Report: Global LTE revenues will surpass $265 billion in 2016
Mobile broadband is all about 4G LTE these days. It was reported that Everything Everywhere was setting aside £1.5 billion for 3G and 4G upgrades after positive results were reported from trials that they had conducted earlier. Everything Everywhere CEO Olaf Swantee stated: “We’re not only demonstrating LTE for mobile, but for fixed purposes as well. It is my belief, and Everything Everywhere’s belief, that the UK needs 4G. Scandanavia, the US, Germany – all of these regions are already deploying 4G. It’s my belief the UK needs to start deploying 4G now.”
Another broadband firm gearing up with the new technology is Three UK. The provider is set to conduct their own 4G trials that will begin in March 2012 in Thames Valley. Three chief David Dyson said in a statement: “With every major upgrade like this smartphone and tablet customers will find they can enjoy their devices more in more places across the UK. Our ability to provide all-you-can-eat data packages depends on a combination of smart network management, investment in improved technologies and the spectrum that is the lifeblood of mobile.”
Add all the added conveniences of 4G technology to the fact that it is predicted to become 60% cheaper by the year 2016.

It has also been predicted that 4G LTE revenues will surpass $265 billion in the same year. Western Europe, North America and Far East & China are the areas that are predicted to eventually account for 84% of the total revenue to be raked in by the technology.
This was according to the 4G LTE Strategies Report published by Juniper Research. The study also predicts that LTE consumers will outnumber the number of 4G enterprise users. The driver for the bulk of the revenue is the introduction of premium service tariffs in order to provide high end enterprise users with reliable and guaranteed connections and service levels.
Juniper’s report concludes that LTE service will eventually grow to represent over 26% of the total service revenues from all available mobile services across all generations by 2016.
