Wireless router now on offer from 3
Following the recent launch of the share dock from T-Mobile, rival mobile operator 3 has launched its own wireless router for mobile broadband users.
With mobile broadband having taken off so quickly and successfully over recent months it was only a matter of time before the big players in the mobile broadband market started to bring out accessories to make consumers’ mobile broadband experience more convenience, effective, and easy.
Recently one of the major players in the mobile broadband market, T-Mobile broadband, announced the launch of a share dock, which allowed a number of mobile broadband users to share the same connection in order to access the Internet. Following in its rival’s footsteps, another mobile broadband giant, 3, has now announced the launch of a wireless router designed for mobile broadband users.
The D100 router will allow up to four mobile broadband users to share the same 3G connection, and it turns a standard dongle into a wireless broadband routers than allows multiple users to access the Internet off the same connection. An official from 3 said: “Just plug your dongle into the router instead of into your laptop and generate instant wireless access for the people around you”.
The new wireless mobile broadband router from 3 will be on offer at selected 3 stores, as well as from the website, and it costs £69.99 with or without a mobile broadband tariff. Some officials have expressed concern, however, over what sort of speeds consumers that use the wireless router would get it they use it to full capacity and share with three other people, which is the maximum number recommended.
