Mobile broadband – an indication of how needs have changed
A 3 representative has suggested that the increasing ambition for British users to both communicate and work whilst on the move is the reason for the growth in the mobile broadband market.
A recent increase in the use of mobile broadband in the UK has shown that users are no longer looking solely at fixed line broadband for their internet and communication needs. The growing need for customers, especially business users, to work in a more mobile environment has been shown by reports of increased dongle modem sales and the expanding customer base for many of the major service providers including 3.
The head of business at 3 UK, Renato Bottini, has stated that from a working perspective the extra flexibility this technology offers users now allows them to work more easily away from the office and means they use their devices either at home or at any location their business requires them to.
He advised “It’s just an evolution of technology and people get used to using things in different ways. One of the previous barriers had been cost and that has been removed and it is now easy, cost effective and productive to work whilst mobile.”
Results from research carried out recently by 3 has found that fourteen percent of those asked felt that the need for them to have regular contact with their clients or customers either by mail or phone at all times has never been more essential.
This is an indication that many people now conduct their online activities for both business and personal use away from their home or their office and mobile broadband technology is making that step away from fixed locations a much easier thing to do.
