According to officials from mobile network operator 3 it is now able to offer mobile data speeds that are fifty percent faster with the release of a new HSPA+ modem.

According to recent reports the mobile network operator 3 is claiming to be able to provide mobile data speeds that are fifty percent faster thanks to the release of a new HSPA+ modem. The Huawei E586 MiFi is the modem that 3 has released and officials have said that it takes advantage of the latest high speed protocol in order to provide consumers with advanced speeds.
The device has only recently gone on sale and with the popularity of mobile broadband and Internet should prove popular. This is said to be the first device of its kind in the UK that offers service using the HSPA+ 21.1Mbits/sec standard.
An official from 3 said: “3 customers will experience significant speed improvements compared to the existing MiFi. Whilst 3 had anticipated that it would be 40% faster, independent test results reveal that it is in fact up to 50% faster than previous models.”
Testing with the modem showed that peak download speeds were able to reach 5.9Mbps. However, network capacity will also play a big part in the speeds that consumers are able to receive. 3 has stated that around eighty percent of its 3G network will be equipped with HSPA+ by the end of this year, which could mean that consumers who are using the new dongle could get to enjoy even greater speeds.
