Speed test victory for O2

Mobile network and broadband provider O2 has claimed that it has enjoyed a victory in a recent mobile broadband speed test that was commissioned by O2 and carried out by Siroda.

It has been claimed by officials from the mobile network and broadband provider O2 that is has been rated highly in a recent mobile broadband speed test that was actually commissioned by O2, and which was carried out by the radio engineering and benchmarking consultancy Siroda. O2 claims that it has received a thumbs up for network performance as a result of the speed testing that was carried out.

According to both O2 and Siroda the data from the study was verified independently by the British Approvals Board for Telecommunications. As part of what has been described by Siroda and O2 as a comprehensive study the music file download speeds were checked in twenty major cities. The study also involved timing the amount of time that it took to call up a set web page.

In order to make the results of the tests as effective and accurate as possible testing was carried out over the course of the day between ten in the morning and ten at night. They were also carried out over the course of the week across seven days, and officials from Siroda said that this enabled the results of be base on genuine user activity.

With regards to the results O2 is said to have offered the fastest speeds on music downloads in twelve of the twenty cities where this was tested. In a further five locations Vodafone was found to have the fastest speeds, and in two cities T-Mobile came out on top. Mobile network provider 3 is said to have offered the fastest speeds in one of the twenty cities tested, and according to the report Orange did not offer the fastest download speeds in any of the cities tested.
