O2 enjoying success in broadband market
After winning an award for its broadband speed and customer service communications giant O2 has proven that it is holding its own in the competitive world of both fixed line and mobile broadband
Communications giant O2 has recently enjoyed being crowned the clear winner in an awards ceremony that looked at various areas of broadband. O2 walked away with he award for best broadband speed and customer service levels, proving that whilst it may have been a late entry to this competitive field it has certainly managed to hold its own.
Just a few weeks ago O2 launched an offer whereby consumers signing up to mobile broadband subscriptions could enjoy free home broadband for a year, and this was one of a number of tempting offers that have been banded about by mobile broadband providers over recent months, as they try and increase custom in the increasingly competitive field of mobile communications.
After the launch of the offer one O2 spokesperson said: “Whether our customers are watching a video or playing a game online at home, or browsing the internet on their laptop while on the move, our combined Broadband package is the perfect combination to help them stay connected wherever they are.â€
Another official from O2 stated: “O2 launched home broadband last October and then launched mobile broadband in May. We were obviously not first to market either time. However, we were the first to offer home and mobile broadband together and automatic subscription to commercial Wi-Fi hotspots such as The Cloud.â€
He added: “The UK broadband market is maturing, with close to 60 percent penetration. In previous years a lot of the uptake was driven by ‘free’ broadband offers, but now people are starting to appreciate the benefits of higher quality services. Things like the BBC iPlayer mean that people now want higher bandwidth with higher download limits.â€
