Lords throw out amendment designed to help broadband users

It has been revealed that an amendment to the Digital Economy Bill, which had been designed to help broadband users in the UK, has been thrown out by the House of Lords.

For many people trying to get a broadband related complaint or issue sorted out can be a real nightmare, and many people get pushed from one service provider to another as companies try and pass the buck when it comes to dealing with complaints and issues. In order to try and get this issue resolved an amendment was tabled into the Digital Economy Bill by Lord Erroll calling for the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, to establish a scheme that would be geared towards handling broadband related issues and disputes.

Free voucher offer with Sky Broadband

Sky Broadband is hoping to add to its already impressive success in the broadband market by launching a new incentive in the form of a voucher for Marks & Spencer.

With the competition between the UK’s leading broadband providers getting tougher and tougher all the time many have had to find ways in which to try and entice customers to take out services with them rather than with one of their rival broadband providers, and often this is done through the offer of freebies and gifts when certain broadband packages and services are taken out.

Legal action threatens to delay spectrum auction

It has been reported that the auction of radio spectrum that is so important for the implementation of 4G broadband technology could be delayed as a result of legal challenges by two mobile network operators.

According to recent reports two major mobile network operators in the UK are considering legal challenges that could further delay the auction of radio spectrum, which could in turn further delay the roll out of 4G broadband across the nation. More spectrum is needed in order for 4G to be rolled out effectively, but once this technology is widely available consumers will be able to benefit from improved reliability, faster speeds, and better access.

Conservatives could lose votes over broadband plans

According to recent reports the Conservative Party could end up losing the support of many people, including some of its own core voters, as a result of its planned broadband measures.

Broadband is something that both the Labour and the Conservative party have been using to try and persuade voters that they will be the best people to run the country, and with the subject of broadband having become such a prominent one over recent years many people may indeed at least partly base their vote on the strategies and plans that the various parties have when it comes to broadband.

Reworked broadband packages from supermarket giant provide value for money

Supermarket giant Tesco has recently announced that it has reworked its broadband packages, and according to reports consumers could enjoy great value for money with these deals.

It has been announced by the supermarket giant Tesco that it has reworked its existing broadband packages, which come with a number of benefits including landline calls. The two packages that are on offer from Tesco could enable some consumers to enjoy great value for money, and for many being able to take these services through a household name such as Tesco will bring great peace of mind.
